FAQ

Can Tanto place trades on my account?

No. Broker connections are strictly read-only. Tanto can only import and view your trade data.

Does Tanto store my broker password?

For Tradovate, NinjaTrader, and cTrader, no. Authentication uses OAuth, so Tanto only receives a temporary access token and never sees your password. For Rithmic, yes: your password is stored (encrypted at rest) because Rithmic requires credentials on each login. For ProjectX (TopstepX), Tanto stores an API key, not your password. For Interactive Brokers, Tanto stores a Flex Token and Query ID, not your password. For MetaTrader 5, there is nothing to store: the connection runs through your own terminal, so Tanto never sees an account or investor password. All stored credentials are encrypted.

What happens if I delete an account?

All trades and associated data for that account are permanently deleted. This cannot be undone. If you want to free up the account slot but keep the history, archive the account instead.

What's the difference between archiving and deleting an account?

Archiving keeps everything. The account stops counting toward your plan's account limit and stops receiving new trades, but every trade, note, and stat stays viewable through the account selector. Deleting removes the account and all of its trades for good. If you are finished with an account but want the history, archive it. Neither action can be undone.

Can I use Tanto with a prop firm account?

Yes, depending on the platform. For Tradovate, NinjaTrader, and cTrader, select the Demo environment when connecting. For Rithmic-based prop firms (Apex, Lucid Trading, Tradeify, Bulenox, and others), pick your firm's name from the Rithmic System dropdown and enter the Rithmic credentials they provided. For TopstepX, connect via ProjectX with your TopstepX username and API key. For MetaTrader 5, log into the account in your terminal and it appears in Tanto ready to add, whether it is live, demo, evaluation, or funded. For Interactive Brokers, paper trading accounts connect the same way as live ones. CSV or XLSX upload also works for any firm.

How often does AutoSync update?

Connected brokers sync new trades automatically. You can see the last update time in the top bar.

Can I export my data?

Not currently available in the app. Contact support if you need a data export.

What timezones are supported?

All major timezones are supported. Set yours in Account Settings.

What's the difference between hiding and deleting a trade?

Hiding a trade keeps it in your trade grid (dimmed) but excludes it from all stats and charts. You can unhide it at any time. Deleting a trade removes it permanently — this cannot be undone.

Where does the economic news data come from?

Economic events come from a curated calendar covering USD, EUR, GBP, JPY and AUD: the Fed, ECB, Bank of England, Bank of Japan and RBA, plus the major statistical releases and PMIs for each region. Tanto lists when each release happens, not forecast or actual values. Times are shown in Eastern.

Do I need to refresh the page to see new trades?

No. Tanto syncs data in real-time. When your broker connection imports new trades, they appear automatically across all pages without refreshing.
