Setups & Tags

Five Tag Groups

Every tag belongs to one group, and each group answers a different question:

  • Setups: what you traded
  • Entry: why you got in
  • Exit: why you got out
  • Conditions: what the market was doing
  • Emotions: how you felt

When you open a trade, each note section has a + Tag button. Type to find a tag or create a new one. Each trade holds up to 5 tags per group.

Tag names are unique across your whole account, so "Breakout" can't be both a setup and an entry tag. Pick the group that matches the question you'll want to ask in Reports.

Setups tell you what you traded. The other four tell you why it went the way it did. Reports and Cross Analysis can break any setup down by the others, so using more than one group is where the insight comes from.

Managing Your Tags

Open Setups & Tags from the profile menu, or click Manage… at the bottom of any tag picker. There's one tab per group, with each tag's trade count and when you last used it.

  • Rename: every trade updates instantly, and your Reports history stays intact.
  • Merge: fold "Break Even" into "Breakeven" and every trade moves over. Tanto flags near-duplicates for you.
  • Move: put "FOMO", logged as a setup, into Emotions. Its trades come with it.
  • Delete: removes the tag from every trade. Delete N unused clears out the ones on no trades.
  • Create: add a tag before you've ever traded it.

Tick a row's checkbox, or Shift-click to select a run, to move or delete several tags at once.

Setup Base Risk and Target

A setup you always trade the same way can carry its own risk, so its trades get an R without a stop on each one.

  • Base risk: in dollars ($200) or points (10 pts). Points convert to dollars per trade, so one "10 pt" setup works across ES and MES.
  • Target: a multiple of risk, like 2R. It sets Planned R on trades with that setup and no target of their own.

A trade's own stop always wins over its setup's base risk. See Risk & R Multiples.
